LIPS
Lips is a modular smart home system, that lets you add sensors to your analog devices so the home system can tell you the status of whatever you want to track, like: 'are all my windows closed?'
Lips is a bachelor's project that explores the potential of modular sensor technology in the home. At its core, 'Lips' is a device designed for intuitive interaction, responding to voice and gestures. The system's versatility comes from its modular sensors, each with a standard base that can be customized with different attachments to sense a variety of environmental factors — from light and temperature changes to the locking status of a door. 'Lips' aims to facilitate subtle and natural dialogues with our living spaces, allowing the environment to become a more responsive element of the home.

Reflection
I leaned many things about exporing and validating ideas with users and developing my own processes to do this that fit the goal of the project. I also became better at modeling and coding and going through the product design process multiple times.
The part I struggled with most was the programming of the ESP modules to have the sensors actually connect to the main hub. I actually failed to make it work the way I wanted. It tought me I should set a time limit for self exploration. I believed that self teaching is the best way to learn something, but at some point if you are blocked, maybe it is better to not spend endless hours on the internet and find someone with expert knowledge to help you solve it.
